The newsletter I received yesterday from The Shift mentioned a Capterra survey on the cybersecurity of Brazilian small and medium-sized companies:
- Cyberattacks are the third-worst crisis for SMEs (only losing to declining sales and macroeconomic factors)
- Of the companies that have suffered cyberattacks, phishing was the most cited type of attack (83%)
- The most commonly used protections are: antivirus (96%), email security software (90%), and firewalls (87%)
Many people are unaware that the phishing threat can come “from within” the company itself, in the form of an email pretending to be from your domain—imagine a fake email from the company owner to an employee, for example.
How to solve this? By correctly configuring the authentication of your sent emails and, most importantly, actively monitoring your outgoing email traffic.
In addition to ensuring the security and deliverability of your messages, you protect your brand’s reputation.

If you work in IT, or simply like technology and want to subscribe to just one newsletter, The Shift is your best choice (in Portuguese).
